Aims

  • The curriculum aims to cultivate students' abilities and attitudes such as:
  • Critical thinking, creativity, conceptualization, inquiry, and mathematical reasoning, as well as the ability to apply mathematics to solve problems in everyday life and other contexts.
  • The ability to communicate with others using mathematical language and to express ideas clearly and logically.
  • The ability to use numbers, symbols, and other mathematical objects.
  • The ability to develop number sense, symbol sense, spatial sense and measurement sense, as well as to identify patterns and structures.
  • A positive attitude towards mathematics learning and an appreciation of the aesthetic and cultural aspects of mathematics.

  • Mathematics (Forms 1 to 6)
  • One class for Mathematics Extended Module 1 (M1)
  • One class for Mathematics Extended Module 2 (M2)

Assessment

In addition to exams, quizzes are conducted at least 4 times per semester in each form.

Academic Activities

The Mathematics Department organizes the following activities:
  1. Mathematics Club
  2. Junior Form “Rummikub” Competition
  3. School-based “Rummikub” Competition
  4. School-based mathematics competitions for Secondary 1 to 5
Special Teaching Features
  1. School-based curriculum is used for all mathematics classes from Secondary 1 to 6.
  2. Game-based learning is incorporated into mathematics classes for Secondary 1 to 3 to enhance interest in mathematics.
  3. Special topics in mathematics are explored in Secondary 2 and 3.
Competitions

Students participate in various external mathematics competitions annually, such as the Hong Kong Mathematics Olympiad, Hong Kong Junior Mathematical Olympiad, Pui Ching Mathematics Invitational Competition, and Hua Luogeng Cup Mathematics Invitational Competition. Our students have reached the finals of Hong Kong competitions for numerous times, some of which have even won individual awards.
