Art March is a prominent cultural event in Hong Kong that aims to foster both international and local artistic exchanges through a diverse array of art activities. During this month, Hong Kong transforms into a vibrant hub for artistic interaction, hosting a wide variety of exhibitions and cultural programs.
As an active participant in the arts community, the Visual Arts Department of our school took students beyond the classroom this March to engage in a series of art-related activities. Through experiential learning, the students gained invaluable insights into the cultural significance and aesthetic depth of artistic creations.
The journey began on March 19th, when Form 4 and Form 5 Visual Arts elective students attended “On Site” and “Mini Collectables”, two guided tours at the ABHK 2025 Parallel Exhibition, held at the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre, which marked the opening of Art March. Later in the month, 14 students from Form 3 and Form 4, along with 9 Form 5 Visual Arts elective students, explored artwork from around the globe by visiting "Art Central" and "Art Basel". These experiences allowed them to witness the diversity and innovation of international art firsthand. Additionally, our Form 4 and Form 5 VA students visited "Collect HK" at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, where close observation and immersive learning deepened their understanding of contemporary artistic creations and their underlying contexts. Meanwhile, the junior form students from our school's Horticulture Group attended the "Hong Kong Flower Show 2025," where they admired floral and horticultural designs from around the world, experiencing the harmonious blend of art and nature. A highlight of the show was the exhibition of flower pots cultivated by our students, showcasing the essence of experiential learning through "learning by doing."
By stepping beyond the classroom and engaging in real-world artistic experiences, the students were inspired to think critically about aesthetics and culture. They gained a more holistic perspective, enabling them to better understand and appreciate the multifaceted nature of art.
