The 2023 graduation ceremony of Heung To Middle School was held in the Chung Chi Hall of Heung To Middle School on May 19th.

Our 140 fresh graduates, with over 300 parents and guests attended the ceremony, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere. Professor Wai Heung-tung, Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, graced the occasion with his presence.

Among the 140 graduates this year, 16 received the Outstanding Student Award, 24 received the Academic Excellence Award, 20 received the Outstanding Extracurricular Activities Award, and 51 received the Excellent Social Service Award. Award-winning students accounted for 55% of all graduates. In his speech, Principal Wong commended the graduates for their diligent studies, enthusiastic service, and active participation in various school activities both inside and outside of school; he also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the teachers for their tireless efforts and dedicated teaching, and to the parents for their care and unconditional support. Principal Wong encouraged the graduates to pursue lifelong learning, to strive for self-improvement, to continue to work hard in their future studies and careers, to contribute to society, to realize their self-worth, and to always remember the teachings and expectations of their teachers.

Principal Wong summarized the school's achievements over the past year in his speech. The public examination results maintained satisfactory, and the number of students admitted to universities reached a new high. The school also continued to explore and improve its moral education, establishing a systematic moral education curriculum, "Rooted in Heung To: Teacher-Student Growth, Six Years of Affection, A Colorful Life," to lay a solid foundation for students’ growth and development. At the same time, the school cultivated students' legal awareness through activities such as lectures, exhibitions, visits, quizzes, and essay writing contests, helping students understand the purpose of safeguarding national security, which is to ensure the safety of everyone, and to better understand current affairs and social changes, thereby fulfilling their civic responsibilities. In terms of extracurricular activities, while focusing on their studies, the students actively participated in over 290 other learning experiences throughout the year, with nearly a total of 1600 times of participation in various competitions, winning over 500 awards, achieving excellent results. The school also actively developed gifted education programs to train and cultivate talents, and made good use of external resources to plan and promote high-quality cultural exchange activities, broadening students' horizons and allowing them to apply what they learned.

A meaningful "Passing the Torch" ceremony was held at the graduation ceremony. The graduating students passed "Holding the Pen Tightly," the symbol of the Heung To spirit, to their younger siblings, hoping that the younger students would inherit the school's excellent traditions, love the nation, love Hong Kong, actively participate in social affairs, strive to learn advanced technology and culture, unite and help each other within the Heung To family, and become patriotic and pro-Hong Kong young people with modern knowledge, a broad vision, a sense of responsibility, and a sense of mission.

Parents and alumni gathered together, creating a solemn and touching atmosphere at the graduation ceremony. The graduating class students gave their brilliant performances on stage, together with a video with the heartfelt messages from their class teachers. The graduates also presented flowers to their parents to express their gratitude for their long-term cultivation, which moved many parents, teachers, and students to tears. The graduation ceremony concluded amidst songs, blessings, and expressions of gratitude.
