A study tour to Xinjiang in summer 2024 was successfully completed. All teachers and students in the group have gained a lot.
Preparations for the study tour began as early as mid-2023. After much consultation, planning, and careful arrangement, the group selected outstanding students from the school in various fields such as academics, services, sports and arts.
On July 9th, a group of 26 teachers and students embarked on their journey to Xinjiang with great excitement and anticipation. This trip lasted for ten days (July 9th to July 18th) and was rich and fulfilling. It included comprehensive exchanges with the sister school, paying visits to natural scenic spots such as Tianchi Lake, Flaming Mountains, and Kanas Lake, witnessing the sites with historical significance like the Karez Well system, desert management, and military reclamation, as well as appreciating the latest technological developments such as cotton mills, wind power generation, and solar power generation. In addition, three on-the-spot lessons taught by the accompanying teachers played a finishing touch, namely "China's Technological Strength" taught by Mr Yeung, "Understanding the True Nature of Chinese Culture" taught by Mr Chow, and "Xinjiang's Minority Ethnic Policy and Cotton Industry Development" taught by Mr Han. The wonderful sharing by the three teachers, together with an eye-opening experience regarding the current development of Xinjiang, allowed the students to put theory into practice and gained a more comprehensive understanding of national policies and Xinjiang's development. They truly benefited a lot.
On the night before leaving Xinjiang, teachers and students gathered together and shared their feelings. They all agreed that this trip to Xinjiang was a very meaningful national exploration journey.
