Heung To 80th Anniversary: Joint-School AI Education Forum Empowers Teaching

Experts Gather to Explore "AI-Empowered" Trends | Deep Professional Exchange for the Education Sector

To celebrate the momentous 80th anniversary of Heung To Middle School, the Heung To Education Organization proudly hosted the "Joint-School Teacher AI Education Forum" on April 21, 2026.

Themed "AI-Empowered Learning and Teaching," the event brought together faculty from across the Heung To family—including Heung To Middle School, Heung To Middle School (Tin Shui Wai), Heung To Secondary School (Tseung Kwan O), and Heung To College of Professional Studies. The forum’s influence extended far beyond our own walls, attracting educators from 14 other local secondary schools. We were also honored to welcome a dedicated team of teachers from Shenzhen Yadi School, who traveled to Hong Kong to explore how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the modern educational landscape.

Keynote: AI as a Partner, Not a Replacement

The forum opened with a warm welcome from Principal Chung Yiu Kei of Heung To Secondary School (Tseung Kwan O). Our keynote guest, Professor Ray Cheung (Associate Vice-President for Digital Learning at City University of Hong Kong), provided a compelling analysis of the opportunities presented by Generative AI. Professor Cheung emphasized that AI should be viewed as a teacher’s most powerful assistant. Its core value lies in "empowering" the classroom, rather than replacing the vital role of the educator.

Parallel Sessions: Innovation in Action

A major highlight of the forum was the series of 18 parallel sharing sessions. With the incredible support of the Chief Executive's Award for Teaching Excellence Teachers' Association, we invited 21 award-winning teachers to share their expertise across 16 different fields—including Chinese, English, Mathematics, Science, Art, PE, STEAM, and Value Education.

Attendees saw firsthand how AI tools are being integrated into the curriculum:

  • English Language: Utilizing AI to foster autonomous learning.
  • Mathematics: Implementing "discovery-based learning" through new technologies.
  • These sessions demonstrated that innovation and limitations are happening in our classrooms today.

Hong Kong-Shenzhen Exchange: Writing a New Chapter Together

The team from Shenzhen Yadi School contributed two expert presentations, sharing their practical experience in building "Science and Innovation Ecosystems" and the implementation of "Three-Teacher Classrooms." This exchange of ideas helped to deepen the professional bond between educators in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised the sessions for being insightful, practical, and filled with "ready-to-use" ideas. Many noted that the forum helped them clarify the role of AI in their own teaching journey.
