Inter-School AI Art Creation Competition 2024 - "Painting a Poem Digitally" Third Prize Award: Chau Hiu Yuk, Form 4

Chow Siu-yuk demonstrated innovative thinking, artistic talent, and cultural literacy, combining them with AI technology to transform traditional culture into vibrant art. Her work stood out among 2,700 entries from across Hong Kong, earning her both recognition and appreciation.

2023-2024 Sham Shui Po District Inter-School Creative Technology Competition Awards: Gold Award and Popular Innovation and Technology Award

The competition focused on addressing community issues in Sham Shui Po, including subdivided flats, backstreet cleanliness, and population aging. Our students utilized their technological knowledge and remarkable innovative abilities to put into practice the idea of "caring for the community and improving residents' lives with innovative technology." Their efforts paid off as they won the "Gold Award" and the "Popular Innovation and Technology Award" in the competition!

Showcasing Creative Science Education

Mr Chu Kwok Kit was invited by the Chief Executive's Award for Teaching Excellence Teachers’ Association to lead about 20 students in demonstrating how to integrate life education into science lesson for teachers from all over Hong Kong!

With his creativity, Mr. Chu designed various visual impairment simulators, allowing participants to experience the daily challenges faced by visually impaired individuals. This not only inspired students to develop empathy for those with visual impairments but also showcased the possibilities of compassion and creativity in the classroom.

Heung To Science and Technology Cup

The Heung To Science and Technology Cup 2024 has been held since 2011, targeting primary school students in Hong Kong. The competition aims to deepen primary students' understanding of science and technology through hands-on participation, thereby sparking their interest in technology, discovering their potential, and inspiring their creativity and intelligence.

The main activities include:

1. Organizing workshops on creative technology
2. Holding various types of creative technology competitions

Competition items include: Super Track Race, Treasure Hunt Time Trial, and Electronic Technology Innovation Design Competition.

Since its inception, over 100 primary schools have participated in the Heung To Cup competition, involving around 5,700 people, including students, teachers, and parents. With the government's recent promotion of STEAM education, we believe that more people will participate in our competition and related activities.

Our Student achieved Full Marks Award in the "2024 International Chemistry Quiz" (ICQ)

The ICQ (International Chemistry Quiz) is a benchmark test for students' chemistry abilities and an international academic competition. Student Leung Ka Kin achieved the "Full Marks Award" in this international event. In the China and Singapore regions, less than 4% of participants were able to achieve this accomplishment.

3D-Printing Anti-epidemic Kit Design Competition – 1st Runner-up, Most Popular Silver Award, and Most Popular Bronze Award

In the " 3D-Printing Anti-epidemic Kit in Campus Design Competition Among Sham Shui Po Secondary Schools," our students successfully utilized their creativity and technological knowledge to create epidemic prevention kits using 3D printing technology to address pressing issues.

Creating Unique Story Maps by Using Spatial Data to Showcase Community Culture

The 3D Sham Shui Po 360 Learning Program allows students to explore Hong Kong's history and culture through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and create unique story maps by using spatial data. This year, our students utilized the data they collected to vividly share the unique stories and community features of Sham Shui Po. Their efforts were recognized in the "3D Sham Shui Po 360" competition, where they won the Gold Award!

Our teacher shared his unique innovative teaching methods in many newspapers.

Our school teachers, Mr Chu Kwok Kit and Miss Tong Yun Sum, were commended in commendation certificate presentation ceremony on Teachers' Day 2024. Mr Chu Kwok Kit shared his innovative teaching methods on different media and said: “I incorporate creative elements into the classroom, such as using board games to teach the periodic table and music to explain frequency in physics.” Additionally, he integrates moral education by allowing students to experience color blindness while teaching primary colors, fostering empathy and care among his students.

Technology Study Tour to Japan: Inspiring Interest and Enhancing Innovative Thinking

During the "STEAM Artificial Intelligence and Technology Development Study Tour to Japan," the participating students first interacted with Consulates-General Kenichi Okada to learn about Japanese culture and diplomacy before their departure. Upon arriving in Japan, the students visited the TEPIA Advanced Technology Museum and Chiba Institute of Technology, where they experienced the latest technologies and AI courses, enhancing their understanding and skills in technology while broadening their international perspectives.

In our school, a stone monument inscribed with this proverb reflects a group of students engaged in the lesson of physical education. This monument instills the spirit of perseverance into the hearts of every Heung To student, hope that they should remain humble and resilient in the face of future challenges.

The Legacy of Gratitude: Unspoken Yet Felt

Filled with gratitude for their alma mater, our alumni have generously contributed funds to support the construction of various activity rooms at the school. Their appreciation permeates every corner of the campus, and our students unknowingly live within this profound sense of emotion.

A Lifetime Heungtoer

The students have graduated! The teachers are filled with joy, but there is also a hint of bittersweet sadness. The "Wall of Graduation Commemoration" not only records the names of every Heungtoer but also carries the precious memories of the teachers, constantly reminding them to stay true to their original intentions. Each page tells a story, and behind each name lies a heartfelt connection.

Calligraphy, Chinese Notices, and English Promotions: Insights in the Chaos

The campus walls are adorned with a variety of texts and artworks, which do not create a sense of confusion but rather enhance the learning atmosphere.

These calligraphic pieces and bilingual notices captivate our attention, encouraging us to read carefully and gain a deeper understanding of the school culture while acquiring important campus information. Such an environment not only fosters our habit of attentive reading but also allows us to experience the richness of culture and the power of knowledge in our daily lives.

Subtle Influence, Steady Flow

On the walls of the staircase, the words "孝悌忠信禮義廉恥" are displayed. The staircase that students walk by every day has become an excellent place for learning about traditional Chinese cultural values.

As students pass through this staircase daily, they are subtly immersed in the essence of traditional Chinese humanistic spirit, cultivating their character in a gradual and imperceptible way. This allows the beliefs of Heung To to take root and flourish in the hearts of the students, continuing to flourish through their lives.

Joining in the Hong Kong Science Fair: Helping Students Achieve Their Dreams

Lam Ka Ho Raymond participated in the competition in the Hong Kong Science Fair with his self-developed "Food Potassium Ion Minimizer" and won the Gold Award in the senior secondary category. This device is specifically designed to address the issue of excessive potassium absorption from food for patients with kidney disease, effectively reducing the potassium concentration in food.

Our Students Achieve Two Innovation and Technology Patents

After winning the Gold Award at the Innovation and Technology Expo with his " Food Potassium Ion Minimizer," Lam Ka Ho Raymond has continued to actively prepare for the next steps in product development. With the support of the school, Lam Ka Ho Raymond, along with student Chen Yue Wing and teacher Chu Kwok-kit, has obtained two patents under the school's name for "AN ION-MINIMIZING PORTABLE BAG" and "AN ION-MINIMIZING FILTER BAG."

After winning the Gold Award at the Hong Kong Science Fair with his " Food Potassium Ion Minimizer," Lam Ka Ho Raymond continues to conduct research and development on the product. Both Lam and teacher Chu Kwok-kit were invited by the organizers to share their experiences in innovation work and STEAM education on stage at the Fair.
