Safeguarding the Future with Pride: Heung To Middle School National Security Education Week 2026 Successfully Concluded
A Month of Exploration, Engagement, and Excellence in Patriotic Education
From April 13 to 17, 2026, Heung To Middle School successfully held its "2026 National Security Education Week." Through a diverse array of seminars, exhibitions, hands-on experiences, and competitions, the event significantly enhanced the understanding of national security among both teachers and students.
A Week of Multi-Dimensional Learning
The week featured a meticulously planned curriculum that explored national security through various lenses:
- April 13 – Foundations of Patriotism: The week opened with a "School History Sharing Seminar." Mr. Leung Moon Lun, Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, led students through the school's history, helping them appreciate the deep historical roots of loving the Motherland and Hong Kong.
- April 14 – Career Paths in Service: Alumnus Mr. Leung Lap Fung shared his journey in the Disciplined Services. His talk, "Defending National Security: My Path to the Disciplined Services," inspired students to integrate national service into their future career aspirations.
- April 15 – National Security Education Day: To mark this significant day, students watched the mini-drama The War of Resistance. Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the performance fostered a deep emotional connection to the importance of national defense.
- April 16 – Culture and the Silk Road: Students enjoyed an "Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Snack Experience" and a "Silk Road Sharing Session (Almaty)." These activities highlighted how cultural heritage and international exchange (Cultural Security) are vital components of national stability.
- Campus-wide Exhibitions: Throughout the week, the Library hosted a National Security Book Fair, while Secondary 4 students showcased their Citizenship and Social Development Study Tour Results, demonstrating the integration of academic knowledge with real-world security issues.

Extended Learning: Practical Experiences at Sea and on Paper
The school extended National Security education throughout the entire month of April to ensure lasting impact:
- Voices of the Youth: A school-wide National Security Essay Competition encouraged students to articulate their personal reflections on safeguarding the nation.
- Visits to Ngong Shuen Chau Naval Base: On April 11, 18, and 23, students visited the PLA Hong Kong Garrison Exhibition Center. This immersive experience allowed students to get up close with naval vessels and try their hand at semaphore (flag signaling), knot-tying, operating navigational instruments, and even donning naval firefighting equipment. These visits deepened their respect for the garrison's contribution to Hong Kong's stability.

Remarkable Achievement: Champions of the "National Security Good Student" Competition
The highlight of the month came on Saturday, April 25. Our student representatives participated in the "National Security Good Student" Inter-School Competition, co-organized by the Love All-Reach All Charitable Foundation and the Sham Shui Po Residents Association.
After a series of intense rounds, Heung To Middle School emerged as the Champion! This outstanding result is a testament to our students' high level of knowledge and the success of the school's proactive approach to National Security education.
Nurturing a New Generation with Responsibility
This year's National Security Education Week received overwhelming support from alumni, community organizations, and guest speakers, creating a campus-wide atmosphere of awareness.
Heung To Middle School will continue to uphold the principle of "Universal Promotion and Continuous Deepening," integrating national security into both the formal curriculum and extracurricular life. Our goal remains to nurture a new generation of students who possess a deep love for their country, a strong sense of national identity, and the courage to shoulder responsibility.
